The agency confirmed that the lowest-ranked candidate invited held a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 519.
Where multiple candidates share the same score at the cut-off point, the tiebreaker is determined by the date and time each applicant submitted their Express Entry profile.
How Express Entry draws work
Under the Express Entry system, IRCC first selects the type of round it will conduct, then determines how many candidates it needs to invite.
The agency identifies the highest-ranking eligible candidates from the pool and extends invitations to apply for permanent residence.
IRCC runs three categories of invitation rounds. General rounds invite top-ranked candidates eligible for any of the three programmes managed through Express Entry.
Programme-specific rounds, such as the one held on Thursday, target candidates eligible for a single designated programme. Category-based rounds are initiated by the minister to meet a defined economic objective, drawing from candidates who qualify within a particular category.
Who qualifies for Canada's Express Entry pool?
To enter the Express Entry pool, applicants must be eligible for at least one of three programmes: the Federal Skilled Worker Programme, the Federal Skilled Trades Programme, or the Canadian Experience Class.
Candidates are ranked within the pool using the CRS, which awards points based on factors including age, education, language proficiency, and work experience.
The Canadian Experience Class is designed for individuals who have gained skilled work experience inside Canada and wish to transition to permanent residence.
The latest draw was exclusively open to candidates meeting CEC eligibility criteria.
What is Canada's target?
As earlier reported, Canada uses the Express Entry system to select skilled foreign workers for permanent residence through three federal immigration programmes.
The programme allows eligible candidates to submit profiles and compete for invitations to apply for permanent resident status.
Meanwhile, Canada expects to admit up to 230,000 temporary foreign workers in 2026, offering possible job opportunities for Kenyans, although competition for work permits remains high.
