A drunk passenger previously crowned the female “architect of the year” assaulted a flight attendant and bragged about being richer after she was asked to keep quiet because of a sleeping baby, according to police.
Simone de Gale, 44, erupted into a foul-mouthed rage on a Virgin Airlines flight from Dubai to London in February after flight staffer Sarah Jane Buckland had politely asked her not to walk through an aisle where a family and their 9-month-old baby were sleeping, according to The Sun.
“I’m an architect and you’re just a f—king air hostess,” de Gale fumed, according to prosecutors with the Ealing Magistrates’ Court who described the flyer as “really aggressive.”
“You’re a f—king dumb air hostess. You need to learn your place,” she barked.
De Gale called the crew members “racist” and even jabbed Buckland in the neck and yanked at her cardigan, officials said.
“We were all trying to defuse this lady,” Buckland told the court, adding that she was shaken up by the confrontation.
Crew members notified police who met the plane when it landed at Heathrow Airport.
Police noticed that de Gale, who was stumbling as she got off the plane, was slurring her speech and reeked of booze.
Footage of her arrest obtained by The Sun shows de Gale protesting to officers that she never “touched anyone or anything.”
She doubles down after the cops tell her that they can hold her for 24 hours on suspicion of strangulation, assault and being drunk on a plane, saying “I didn’t touch anyone.”
De Gale was convicted Thursday on four charges — including threatening, abusive or insulting a member of a flight crew, being intoxicated on an aircraft and assault — after she skipped her court hearing.
She remains on the run, officials said.
Fellow passenger Graham Cox testified in court that de Gale repeatedly bragged about how much more money she made than the cabin crew running her own architecture firm.
“She said she earns significantly more money than they did,” he said, and described her behavior as “very loud, boisterous, aggressive.”
She also claimed the flight attendants were “only there to serve drinks and food,” according to Cox.
De Gale, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, is the chief executive officer of Simone de Gale Architects, which operates out of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The company was ranked in Spear’s 500 Index as Best Architects for High Net Worth Individuals.
She was named “Architect of the Year” by the Women in Construction Awards UK, according to her website.
