Detectives have extradited a man from Poland and charged him with murder over the 2023 death of a 22-year-old in Sydney.
NSW Police arrested the man in Europe and landed in Sydney on Friday where the 26-year-old was charged.
The body of Darcy Schafer-Turner was found in a metal cabinet on a property near the small mid-north coast town of Macksville in May 2023, a month after he disappeared.
A close friend of Mr Schafer-Turner, Zachary Richard Fraser, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years prison last year after pleading guilty to manslaughter. Court documents allege Fraser restrained his friend as he and another man tried to recover a $50,000 drug debt at a Sydney apartment, where Mr Schafer-Turner suffocated and died.

Charles Dennis Turnbull was contacted to dispose of the body, and he later pleaded guilty to being an accessory to manslaughter.
In a statement released Friday, police say detectives located a 36-year-old man “allegedly involved in the murder who was residing in Poland”.
With help from Polish authorities, detectives travelled to Poland in September, and brought him back to NSW on Friday.
He was charged with murder after arriving, refused bail and is scheduled to front a Bail Division Court on Saturday.

Mr Schafer-Turner’s body was discovered as police investigated the supply of drugs in Caringbah, a suburb in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.
Police investigating the drug supply “identified links to a missing person”, being that of the 22-year-old tradie.
It was alleged Mr Schafer-Turner was placed in a chokehold, tied with duct tape and choked on his own vomit.
His body was discovered in a large metal cabinet purchased from Bunnings, which had been thrown in a creek.
