The Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC Legon) has once again reinforced its reputation as one of Ghana’s most outstanding second-cycle institutions.
Renowned for its consistent excellence across a wide range of academic competitions, including science, business, current affairs, moot court, debates, and Bible quizzes, PRESEC once again distinguished itself at the recently concluded 2026 National Bible Quiz (NBQ).
Although the National Bible Quiz is a competition primarily for university students, PRESEC’s influence was unmistakably evident in the grand finale. Remarkably, six out of the nine finalists, representing their various churches at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), were former students of PRESEC Legon.
The eventual champions, AGCM-KNUST, fielded a team made up entirely of PRESEC alumni: Benjamin W. Jackson(2023), Ephraim Odikro(2024), and Richmond Owuraku Akyeah(2023).
Benjamin W. Jackson, popularly known as “Ben 10,” delivered an exceptional performance and further enhanced his reputation by appearing in his third consecutive NBQ final, distinguishing himself as one of the competition’s most outstanding contestants.
The first runners-up, GHAMSU-KNUST, also drew heavily from PRESEC’s rich tradition, with two of their principal contestants, Nana Kwesi Asante Essel and Jeffery Fiifi Gaisie(2023), being old students of the school. Likewise, the third-placed team, New Breed-KNUST, featured Wesley Paa Kojo Oduro(2023), another proud PRESEC alumnus.
The prominence of PRESEC alumni across all three top-placed teams was a striking testament to the school’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and Christian formation. Indeed, the grand finale showcased the significant impact PRESEC continues to have on shaping young scholars and Christian leaders far beyond the secondary school level.
This unprecedented achievement is believed to be one of the most remarkable displays of influence by a single second-cycle institution in the history of the National Bible Quiz. It further highlights PRESEC Legon’s sustained dominance and legacy in academic and intellectual competitions both within Ghana and beyond.
The National Bible Quiz (NBQ) is Ghana’s premier inter-church Bible competition, bringing together young Christians from across the country to deepen their knowledge of Scripture and apply biblical principles to everyday life.
Since its inception, the competition has served as a vibrant platform that inspires diligent study of God’s Word, strengthens biblical understanding, and fosters unity among believers from diverse Christian traditions. The project continues to propagate the gospel of Christ, making both young and old wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
