The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has praised his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on his 70th birthday, expressing confidence that their partnership can contribute to rebuilding Nigeria after years of poor governance.
Obi, in a birthday message marking Kwankwaso’s milestone on Wednesday, October 21, described the former Kano State governor as an accomplished public servant, trusted adviser and respected political associate whose career has been shaped by decades of service.
He said their relationship had been strengthened by years of conversations, mutual respect and a shared commitment to improving the country.
Obi noted that Kwankwaso’s experience in the legislature, the Federal Executive Council, the Kano State Government and national politics had given him a broad understanding of public administration and the challenges facing Nigerians.
According to him, the former governor’s record in public service reflects extensive engagement with the people and a longstanding involvement in the country’s political affairs.
The former Anambra State governor said turning 70 offered an opportunity to reflect on Kwankwaso’s contributions to Nigeria and the experience he had accumulated throughout his career.
He also expressed appreciation for their political collaboration, maintaining that both men shared a vision of a country where citizens could enjoy greater opportunities, security and dignity.
Obi said their aspirations included building a Nigeria where children would have access to opportunities, families would not be trapped in poverty, and citizens could live with hope and confidence in the future.
He added that their partnership was driven by the belief that the country could overcome its challenges and deliver better outcomes for its people.
