Jeffrey Katzenberg’s new AI-video startup is reportedly in discussions to leverage OpenAI’s shelved video-generation model, Sora. The startup, co-founded by Katzenberg along with former OpenAI Sora lead Bill Peebles and former Dropbox CFO Sujay Jaswa, aims to offer solutions for professional filmmakers. OpenAI had previously halted consumer-facing developments of the Sora model, but this potential collaboration could allow the startup to customize and commercialize it, potentially offering OpenAI an equity stake. While the startup remains unnamed, the move could signify a revitalization of OpenAI’s video initiatives, aligning with its interests in expanding AI applications in media.

Key Takeaways

• The potential collaboration between Katzenberg’s startup and OpenAI appears to suggest a renewed interest in the Sora video model.
• Market pricing indicates that participants view this development as potentially supportive of an increase in OpenAI’s valuation by the end of the year.
• Despite the optimistic scenario, the impact is moderated by the Tier 3 source, suggesting limited immediate influence on market expectations.
