Popular preacher, Pastor Philip Olubakin, has recounted his university education experience with strikes and vowed that his children will never attend federal universities.
In a post shared via Instagram on Thursday, October 15th 2026, he recounted his experience at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he studied law, explaining how university strikes affected his academic journey.
“I studied law in Obafemi Awolowo University, but my children can never study there or any other federal university,” he wrote.
He also narrated an encounter with one of his children, who expressed interest in studying at a federal university in Abuja.
“One day I was telling my children this and one of them said she will like to study in the one in Abuja. I looked at her and said, ‘Who are you in this body? Come out now!’” he stated.
Explaining his decision, he disclosed that he had two matriculation numbers and experienced the cancellation of an entire academic year during his university education, saying, “I had 2 matric numbers. An entire academic year was cancelled. Entered school in 2003, begged before we could leave in 2009 to meet up with law school. Other people left in 2010. They strike more than thunder.”

I had to start over at National Open University. I will be graduating next year by the mercy and help of God, and I am so grateful to God for carrying me through that season o.”
Glory Osasenaga wrote, “People who wrote UTME after me in other schools have graduated, and I’m just entering final year. Wo, I refuse to complain. God is good!”

Portal has not been updated for school fees. They’ve not even gone halfway into the admissions for freshers. Hostels have not been allocated, and they even omitted 300lvls from Hostel Allocation this session. And lecturers are already setting lectures.”
