Kenneth Walker III understands what a blood clot scare feels like. The Chiefs running back went through one in high school, so Jalen Hurts’ story hit close to home. Walker comes off a 22-6 win over the Chargers that lifted Kansas City to 5-0 this season.
Before a road trip to Seattle, he shared a blunt reaction, and one detail clearly stunned him.
Kenneth Walker reacts to Jalen Hurts’ blood clot case
Walker was asked about Hurts at his press conference. His own ordeal involved clots in both lungs, so he spoke from experience. However, the Super Bowl LX MVP’s tone here was serious.
“Yeah, honestly, just stay positive,” Walker told reporters. “You know, obviously, I guess you know about what happened in high school, like, with the blood clots and everything. And he went on the flight, huh? and everything? Yeah, that’s crazy.”
The RB also said he will keep praying for him because the situation is serious.
“You know, do all the things necessary that he need to do, like, to get his body back right. But, yeah, I’ll be praying for him, because that’s not something, you know, we should take lightly….”

However, Walker’s message went further than shock, and his advice for Hurts came with a clear warning.
That caution fits a debate still growing around the Eagles. The NFL defended the process that cleared Hurts, while the NFLPA asked for a full investigation, and commissioner Roger Goodell said the league welcomed that.

What happened to Jalen Hurts in Week 5 against the Jaguars
Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic in London found a superficial clot in Hurts’ blood clot diagnosis case on Oct. 10. He was cleared to play the next day and completed 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards in a 19-17 loss to the Jaguars. The Eagles then flew home, and Hurts returned to practice in full that Wednesday.
A follow-up ultrasound that night showed movement in the clot. Philadelphia Eagles ruled him out of Week 6 and placed him on injured reserve. On Oct. 19, the team and agent Nicole Lynn confirmed deep vein thrombosis and clots in both lungs.
Hurts is on blood thinners and is expected to recover fully, though he will likely miss the season.
Meanwhile, Walker keeps producing. He leads the league with 665 rushing yards and is the first Chiefs player since Priest Holmes in 2002 to hit 750 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns through five games.
