Coolpad has opened pre-orders for its Cool X Wide smartphone in China. It features a 6.38-inch 16:10 display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and a 4,600mAh battery.
Coolpad has unveiled the Cool X Wide in China. Its wider body sets it apart from conventional smartphones, while multitasking features are another key part of its appeal.
We have also covered Huawei's Pura X View, another smartphone with an unusually wide display. Oppo is also reportedly working on a wide-screen smartphone, but it has yet to announce the device officially.
Coolpad Cool X Wide specifications and features
The Cool X Wide features a 6.38-inch LCD with a resolution of 1,158 × 720 pixels, a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate. Unlike the taller 20:9 screens common in smartphones, its wider format provides more horizontal space for reading documents and viewing two apps side by side. However, the resolution is relatively modest for a display of this size.
The phone measures 150.3 × 94.5 × 8.95 mm (5.92 × 3.72 × 0.35 inches) and weighs 209 g (7.37 oz). It is available in three color options.
The Cool X Wide is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and comes in three memory configurations: 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of storage, and 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. It uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, with support for TF memory cards of up to 256GB.
Coolpad is highlighting the phone's multitasking capabilities. According to the company's demonstration, the Cool X Wide can run up to eight WeChat accounts simultaneously and supports split-screen operation.
These features could be useful for people who manage multiple messaging accounts or regularly use two apps at once.
It has a 4,600mAh battery with 18W charging, which is smaller than the 7,000mAh battery in the Huawei Pura X View. The phone also features a 50MP rear camera with a macro lens, dual-SIM connectivity, memory card expansion and fingerprint unlocking.
Coolpad opened pre-orders in China on October 20, 2026. The company has not officially announced the phone's price or confirmed availability outside China.
