Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is giving his wife her flowers - publicly, and in style. The former EFF member stepped out of his usual low-key approach to share a heartfelt birthday post for actress and filmmaker Mmabatho Montsho on Instagram.
On 19 October 2026, Ndlozi uploaded a video carousel of photos celebrating Montsho on her birthday. The caption was understated but warm: "Happy Birthday 🥳 @montshotheblack 🎂." For a couple known for keeping their romance firmly behind closed doors, the gesture carried far more weight than the words alone suggested.
A glimpse into Mmabatho Montsho's world
The carousel offered fans two very different windows into Montsho's life. In one image, she looked effortlessly elegant, dressed in a black outfit with her locs swept up at what appeared to be a glamorous event. A second photo captured a more private, everyday moment: Montsho in a white button-down shirt, her hair loose and slightly falling over her face, brow furrowed in concentration with a brush in hand.
Ndlozi elevated the thoughtful post by setting the photo carousel to Miriam Makeba’s timeless classic, Chove-Chuva. The soulful track added a layer of nostalgia, deep affection, and cultural reverence to the tribute, transforming a simple birthday post into a romantic artistic ode.
Together, the romantic melody and carefully selected images painted a picture of a woman equally at home on a red carpet and in a creative space - a duality that speaks to her journey as both a screen talent and a fine artist.

A private bond, quietly celebrated
Ndlozi and Montsho have long been one of South Africa's most admired yet most guarded couples. The exact date of their marriage remains private, in keeping with how they have always handled their personal lives. What is known is that they have referred to each other as husband and wife for several years now.
Their relationship appears built on a foundation of mutual respect and shared purpose. Ndlozi has stood by Montsho as she has evolved into a celebrated filmmaker and visual artist, while she has remained a steady presence through the highs and lows of his political and academic career. Their support for one another tends to show up quietly, in private milestones, creative encouragement, and a shared commitment to shielding their partnership from public scrutiny.
That is precisely what made this birthday post feel significant. It was not a grand declaration, but for a couple who rarely offers the public even a peek into their world, it was notable all the same.
