Manchester City 3 (Phil Foden 19′, Erling Haaland 34′, 69′)
Ipswich Town 2 (Daizen Maeda 21′, Zian Flemming 90′ (P))
Here are the Manchester City player ratings after they beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium today. A brace from Erling Haaland and a first-half goal from Phil Foden saw City make it seven straight wins to begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign. However, they once again had to fight for all three points against a stubborn Ipswich Town side.
The biggest concern for City was the injuries sustained by Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland. City picked up all three points today but they may have come at a cost.
City player ratings.
Gianluigi Donnarumma-6/10: He could do little about the two goals he conceded and had very little to do for the match.
Matheus Nunes-7.5/10: I thought Nunes was superb at right-back. He defended solidly and was good in possession. The major concern was that Nunes came off due to injury in the 76th minute.
Ruben Dias-7/10: Dias was a threat going forward and was strong at the back.
Marc Guehi-3/10: Guehi wss culpable for both of Ipswich Town’s goals and he was nowhere near his best today.
Nico O’Reilly-6.5/10: O’Reilly was good in the first half before he was replaced by Josko Gvardiol on the hour-mark.
Ayyoub Bouaddi-8/10: Bouaddi was strong in midfield and he is a special talent. He was caught in possession on occasions but his late run to get his team out of trouble illustrates his quality. Bouaddi was brilliant in my opinion.
Mateo Kovacic-7.5/10: I thought Kovacic was very good in the first half. He grabbed an assist and playing alongside Bouaddi allowed him to play in his preferred midfield role. Unfortunately, injury struck and he was taken off in the 50th minute.
Iliman Ndiaye-8/10: Ndaiye picked up where he left off against PSG. He was a constant threat throughout the game on the right and grabbed an assist for his efforts.
Phil Foden-7.5/10: It was great to see Foden score and he was always willing to get on the ball. Foden looked a lot better on both sides of the ball which was a major positive to for City today.

Jeremy Doku-8/10: -Doku was Manchester City’s most prominent attacking threat in the first half. He set up Foden’s goal with a great assist and was always a threat to the Ipswich Town backline.
Erling Haaland-9/10: By far and away City’s man-of-the-match today. Haaland bagged a brace and his overall display was brilliant. Hopefully, his late injury isn’t serious. He is the best player in the world right now and City cannot afford to lose him.

Substitutes.
Enzo Fernandez-7/10: The combative midfielder offered plenty after coming on.
Josko Gvardiol-6/10: Not his best display as a game that ends up being chaotic doesn’t suit him.
Antoine Semenyo-6/10: Semenyo had openings in the final third he didn’t take. However, he picked up an injury which is a massive cause for concern.
Elliot Anderson-7/10: -As always Anderson was everywhere after coming on. He made several crucial late defensive interventions to ensure that Manchester City picked up all three points.
Abdukodir Khusanov-6.5/10: Khusanov threw himself into challenges and was up for the fight after coming on for the injury Matheus Nunes.
