Seth Kwame Dzokoto, a Ghanaian actor and broadcaster, has died after reportedly collapsing during a live radio programme.
According to Ghana GBC, the actor died in the early hours of Thursday, October 22, while serving as a panellist on the morning show of Owass FM/Radio in Tarkwa, Ghana’s Western Region.
The actor, who, according to reports, was battling a kidney-related disease, was immediately rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Western Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kirk Mensah, confirmed Dzokoto’s death in a statement saying, “Our comrade Kwame Dzokoto of the Efiewura and Edziban fame on a panel discussion on Owass Radio in Tarkwa collapsed and was pronounced de@d on arrival at the hospital.”
A livestream of the programme on Owass FM’s Facebook page appeared to capture the final moments before the incident. Later in the broadcast, Dzokoto seemed to struggle to breathe and was seen handing a bottle of water to another guest. Moments later, the camera became unstable, and the livestream was abruptly cut off.
Dzokoto rose to national prominence through his portrayal of Judge Koboo in the popular television series Efiewura.
Further details, including official statements from his family and information regarding funeral arrangements, have yet to be announced.
