US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has called for an end to US arms sales to Israel in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s order for a complete blockade of the occupied West Bank.
In a post on X early Saturday, October 24, the US lawmaker said Israel was committing “war crimes” using American weapons and taxpayer dollars.
She strongly criticized US financial and military support for Israel and called for it to be halted.
“The genocidal apartheid government promises to commit more war crimes with US weapons and taxpayer dollars. This is the unbearable daily reality for Palestinians, and it is only getting worse. Stop the bombs. Dismantle apartheid. Free Palestine,” Tlaib wrote.
The remarks come after Netanyahu ordered a complete blockade of the West Bank following a shooting targeting Israeli soldiers in the territory.
Meanwhile, violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, a European diplomatic delegation, and an American photojournalist in recent days has drawn widespread international condemnation.
