Michigan State has salvaged the weekend against New Hampshire. After a very disappointing 1-0 loss on Friday night, the Spartans returned on Saturday to earn a 2-1 win, earning a weekend split with the Wildcats.
Opening the scoring for the Spartans in the second period was Mason West, who got his first collegiate goal on a beautiful 2-on-1 odd man rush. Jimmy Clark and Tommi Manisto got credited with assists, and MSU took a 1-0 lead into the third period.
The Spartans extended their lead to 2-0 when Anthony Romani found the back of the net, getting assisted by Thomas Bleyl and Ryker Lee.
A power play marker from Emile Guite cut the MSU lead in half, but New Hampshire did not have another answer, and MSU came away with the win.
In the win, Joshua Ravensbergen showed himself as a star once again. The Spartans netminder made 38 saves in the matchup, showing the prowess he holds as a goalie for the upcoming season.
Michigan State will return to action next weekend when they take on North Dakota in Austin, Texas in an outdoor matchup.
