The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK last month, and have been enjoying country pastimes ever since. Next week, the family are set to celebrate their first Halloween in the UK as a family of four, a special milestone for them. The last time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in Britain for this holiday, their son, Prince Archie was just five months old, and it will no doubt bring back memories of their first spooky season as parents.
It is not known how the family will be celebrating this year, but dressing up and trick-or-treating will likely feature heavily for Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five.

Back in 2019, when Prince Harry and Meghan were still using their Sussex Royal Instagram account, they shared a photo taken from their royal tour of New Zealand from the year before and wrote: "Happy Halloween! Wishing you all a safe and fun Halloween from our family (and our little pumpkin) to yours!" The social post didn't contain a photo of their young son, but the reference to their "little pumpkin" was loved by fans. The family resided at Frogmore Cottage at the time, and it was the following year that they fled to the US.

Last year, the family visited a pumpkin patch in America to get in the spirit of the season. Meghan took to Instagram to share a video of the family outing. The clip opened with sweeping shots of the pumpkin field and a friendly scarecrow before cutting to their son dashing through a maze. Lilibet, dressed in a cosy matching set, enjoyed a ride in a rustic wooden cart pulled by her mum, surrounded by hay bales and tractors. In another cute moment, she could be seen playing with a tyre filled with white and yellow mini pumpkins, her auburn waves on full display.
Two years prior to this, in 2023, the family of four was captured going trick-or-treating near their Montecito mansion. They were seen walking along the road with a cohort of other excited families. Harry and Archie carried a pumpkin basket each, ready to collect sweets.

The couple loved celebrating Halloween even before they were parents, attending a party incognito when they were dating. Meghan previously spoke about the outing with Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie and Eugenie's then-future husband, Jack Brooksbank, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021.
"The four of us just snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night out on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple," Meghan said.
Harry also wrote about the occasion in his memoir, Spare. He wrote: "We invited Euge and Jack to join us for Halloween. And Meg's best friend Markus. Toronto’s Soho House was having a big party and the theme was 'Apocalypse.' Dress accordingly. I mumbled to Meg that I’d not had great luck with themed fancy-dress parties, but I'd give it another go."
