Abhishek Pathak has ruled out a fourth instalment of the Drishyam franchise, saying the latest film brings Vijay Salgaonkar’s story to a satisfying end. The director believes Drishyam 3: The Conclusion should remain the final chapter despite growing audience interest in another sequel. He said the team wanted to give the popular crime thriller a meaningful ending. Pathak also stressed that audience demand alone cannot justify continuing a story.
In an interview published on October 2, Pathak expressed hope that fans would continue celebrating the date as Drishyam Day. However, he maintained that the team considers the third film the franchise’s conclusion. He explained that any further instalment would need a strong story rather than relying on the series’ popularity. According to the director, the existing ending serves as a fitting tribute to the franchise.

Pathak acknowledged that fans and industry figures had suggested possibilities for a fourth film. He admitted the franchise could offer more material for another storyline, but said that was not enough reason to continue. The director believes the third instalment closes the narrative in a way that audiences can appreciate. He wants viewers to value that conclusion rather than expect another sequel.
The filmmaker also pointed to the film’s strong theatrical performance while explaining his decision. He said Drishyam 3 was still attracting large audiences during its second week in cinemas. Pathak noted that its second weekend generated more than Rs 60 crore, a figure many films struggle to achieve throughout their entire theatrical runs. He urged fans not to risk weakening the franchise by extending it unnecessarily.

The latest film brings Ajay Devgn back as Vijay Salgaonkar, whose carefully protected secrets face renewed scrutiny when a determined Crime Branch officer reopens the case. Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Jaideep Ahlawat also appear in key roles. The film continues the story of a man attempting to protect his family while confronting the consequences of past events. Its conclusion has become central to the debate over whether the franchise should continue.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who led the original Malayalam Drishyam films, also praised the Hindi instalment’s ending. He congratulated Pathak, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, Devgn and the wider cast and crew for bringing the story to a fitting close. His response added to the appreciation surrounding the film’s conclusion. For now, Pathak’s position remains clear: Drishyam 3 is intended to be the franchise’s final chapter.
