Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government recorded trade with Russia reached US$4.84 billion in 2025, a 21.6 percent increase compared to US$3.98 billion on the previous year.
Key commodities traded between the two countries include palm oil, coffee, cocoa, agricultural products, and fertilizers.
This was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto while discussing efforts to strengthen Indonesia-Russia economic cooperation with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.
"Indonesia and Russia posses great potential to strengthen mutually beneficial economic cooperation. We are committed to encouraging increased trade and investment, expanding partnerships between business actors, and ensuring that cooperation opportunities lead to concrete benefits for both countries," Hartarto said in a statement on Saturday.
During the meeting on Friday (October 16), the two sides discussed the progress of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union (I-EAEU) free trade agreement (FTA), with the ratification process is almost completed.
Once ratified, the I-EAEU FTA is expected to enter into force soon, expanding market access for Indonesia's leading products and strengthening trade ties with Eurasian Economic Union member states.
Indonesian products expected to benefit from wider market access under the agreement include palm oil, coffee, cocoa, textiles, and furniture.
Hartarto and Manturov also explored collaboration in strategic sectors, particularly the shipping and aviation industries, as well as increasing national industrial capacity.
Indonesia also welcomed the presence of the Russian business delegation at Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026 to strengthen relationships between business actors and open up opportunities for new commercial partnerships.
Meanwhile, Manturov emphasized the importance of strengthening relationships between business actors to expand trade cooperation.
He said the Russian delegation's presence at TEI 2026 was a continuation of trade engagement following Indonesia's participation as a partner country at the INNOPROM exhibition in Yekaterinburg in July 2026.
"Russian companies attended business-to-business (B2B) meetings with potential Indonesian partners, as well as a business forum with thematic sessions on trade, investment, and industrial cooperation," Manturov said.
Following the meeting, Hartarto and Manturov agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in various strategic sectors, including agriculture, technology, industry, and supply chain development.
