The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa state has reaffirmed its support for the party’s national leader and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, following his unequivocal declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Bayelsa PDP described Wike’s position, recently reiterated at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, as a significant political statement that reinforced the direction of his political engagement and the need for strategic alignment in the evolving national political landscape.
In a statement on Thursday, the Bayelsa state PDP noted that under the leadership of its Chairman, Hon. Chief Alabh George Turnah, the Bayelsa state PDP was set to endorse Tinubu as its preferred presidential candidate in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement further said, “This proposed endorsement is to reaffim the state leadership’s steady alignment of its political direction with Wike’s position and to mobilise party stakeholders and supporters towards a common political objective.”
The Bayelsa PDP further reaffirmed confidence in George Turnah’s leadership of the National Rainbow Coalition in the state and his commitment to coordinating the coalition’s activities in support of President Tinubu’s candidacy.
“Under his leadership, the Coalition is playing a strategic role in galvanising political stakeholders and strengthening the mobilisation effort ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The party calls on its members, stakeholders, and supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and united as political consultations and preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum. It urges all party faithful to remain focused, sustain mutual confidence, and respect the leadership and decisions that will emerge through the appropriate political processes,” the statement said.
