An Israeli family buying four full-price main-hall tickets to Festigal, one of the country’s best-known Hanukkah children’s shows, would pay NIS 796 this year, after prices rose by up to 7.8%.
That bill covers admission alone, before transportation, food, or other expenses associated with a family outing.
Hanukkah is a busy season for children’s entertainment in Israel. During the school holiday, theaters and entertainment venues stage musicals, plays, and other family performances. Festigal is among the most prominent productions, bringing together Israeli singers and actors in an annual musical built around a new storyline.
This year’s production, Top Secret Festigal, is scheduled to open on November 28 at Expo Tel Aviv. Its cast includes Israeli pop singer Noa Kirel, entertainer Ran Danker, and actress Eliana Tidhar, with Eden Ben Zaken appearing as a guest singer.
According to a price comparison compiled by Shelcha, an Israeli consumer benefits club, Festigal’s full ticket prices increased by NIS 10 in each of its three seating categories compared with 2025.
Main-hall seats rose from NIS 189 to NIS 199, an increase of approximately 5.3%. Lower-tier seats increased from NIS 159 to NIS 169, or 6.3%, while upper-tier tickets rose from NIS 129 to NIS 139, a 7.8% increase.
Holiday attractions becoming financially challenging for families
“Hanukkah is a holiday of light and miracles, but for many families, spending on outings and attractions also becomes a financial challenge,” said Sigalit Cohen-Baruch, CEO of Shelcha.
“When you add the costs of other outings throughout the holiday, you realize that every purchasing decision can affect the family budget,” she said.
The comparison also showed how membership benefits can change the cost of the same show. Consumer clubs and bank-card programs offer eligible customers discounted tickets, with prices and purchase limits varying by program.
Shelcha said its members could buy main-hall tickets for NIS 95 and upper-tier seats for NIS 45. The latter price represented a discount of approximately 67.6% from the full price.
Hever, a benefits organization serving career military personnel and retirees, offered still lower prices in the comparison: NIS 69 for the main hall and NIS 29 for the upper tier.
Bank customers may also qualify for discounts. Mizrahi-Tefahot advertised Festigal tickets ranging from NIS 59 to NIS 119 through its cardholder benefits program, with a limit of two tickets per code and eligibility tied to qualifying card spending.
Holiday children's entertainment shows similar price gaps
Similar price gaps appeared elsewhere in the holiday entertainment market. Motek Forever, a separate production aimed at younger children, was listed at a full price of NIS 159, compared with NIS 59 through Shelcha and NIS 39 through Hever.
In a response published by the Hebrew-language newspaper Israel Hayom, Festigal’s organizers said they offered several price tiers and special arrangements through organizations and workers’ committees to help families afford tickets.
Cohen-Baruch recommended setting a holiday budget before booking and comparing offers across ticket sellers and membership programs. The final cost depends on which performances and seats are available, how many discounted tickets a family is entitled to buy, and whether it meets the program’s conditions.
