DAEJEON — Korea National Railway said on the 19th that it won the product development innovation award at the 2026 Korea Local Government and Public Character Festival awards ceremony, held at the Daejeon Convention Center on the 17th. The award marks the second consecutive year the agency has been recognized in the category.
The agency was honored for teaming up with social enterprises to develop a range of merchandise featuring RAILO, its official mascot, using the products as a channel to engage with the public while helping the partner firms expand sales channels and increase revenue.
Korea National Railway formed a "KR Goods Team" with social enterprises and developed a total of 73 merchandise items featuring RAILO, including keycaps and key rings.
The products are sold at offline stores inside stations including Seoul Station, Suseo Station and Busan Station, as well as through online outlets such as RAILO SHOP. Cumulative sales have surpassed 100 million won since the stores opened in 2025.
"We will pursue mutual growth with our partner companies and develop a variety of content using our mascot to build closer ties with the public," said Jeong Jin-hyuk, president of Korea National Railway.
