In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, October 14, the TikToker stated clearly that he had no plans to return to school, insisting the decision was final and personal.
Why did Kaluma Boy stop attending school?
Kaluma Boy revealed that he stopped attending school because he felt the course he was pursuing was not his passion.
He said his dream had always been to study Nursing and expressed hope that he would one day get the opportunity to pursue it.
Beyond the passion mismatch, he also opened up about the financial strain of university life.
Although tuition and accommodation were taken care of, daily expenses such as food and personal upkeep were not covered.
He said the marketing gigs he took on the side did not pay enough to bridge that gap, and worries about his father's ongoing medical needs added further pressure.
The content creator acknowledged that people would have different opinions about his decision but maintained that his life and future were his responsibility.
"I'm not going back to that school. This is a decision I've made, and I ask everyone to respect it," he wrote.
Despite stepping away from his studies, Kaluma Boy was careful to express gratitude.
"To the school that offered me a scholarship, thank you so much for believing in me and giving me that opportunity. I'll forever be grateful," he said.
How did Kaluma Boy become famous?
Kaluma Boy shot to public attention after videos of him caring for his sick, bedridden father went viral, touching the hearts of many Kenyans.
The outpouring of support led to well-wishers improving his family's living conditions, and in late 2025, Bishop Ben Kamau, popularly known as Muthee Kiengei, announced a full scholarship for him during a thanksgiving service at JCM Church in Ruiru.
The East African University stepped in to cover his tuition and hostel accommodation, with a course in Sales and Marketing, specialising in digital marketing.
By August 2026, however, project organisers and well-wishers raised concerns after Kaluma Boy stopped showing up to class.
Project coordinators reportedly claimed he had requested a monthly allowance of KSh 6,000, citing his role as a university brand ambassador, a request the institution reportedly declined.
