Ryanair is one of the largest airlines in Europe. The Ireland-based low-cost carrier operates thousands of daily flights (roughly 3,200 to 3,800 daily aircraft movements) across its network. It is well known for its cheap fares to cities across Europe, and passengers can sometimes find tickets for a tenner one way.

Ryanair regularly adjusts its network, and last week, UK airline schedule analyst Sean M reported that the carrier had added 27 new routes for summer 2027. In fact, some flights on one of the new routes were listed at €7.99, or approximately $9, one way.

27 New Routes For Summer 2027

Some of the new additions are really interesting. For instance, Ryanair is launching a new service to Porto from Exeter International Airport on March 30, 2027. This twice-weekly seasonal route will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays and will give travelers from Devon and the wider South West another option for reaching Portugal. It will join the carrier’s existing flights from Exeter to Faro, which operate twice a week. The airline is also adding a new route from Bournemouth Airport to Porto, another first for the Irish low-cost carrier.

This will again be a twice-weekly service, operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays, using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Additionally, the Portuguese city will also gain a connection with the southern German city, Friedrichshafen. The route will restore the German airport’s links to Portugal, as no other carrier currently operates flights between Friedrichshafen and the country. The airport last had a service to Portugal in 2018, when German leisure airline Germania (which ceased operations in 2019) operated flights to Faro.

Ryanair Schedules Nearly 76 Million Seats For Winter 2026–2027

It remains to be seen how these new routes will perform. Ryanair has a history of dropping services when demand falls short of expectations or airport charges make them less viable, so some of the additions could be short-lived. However, the airline has continued to expand its network. We are approaching the Northern Hemisphere winter season and soon airlines like Ryanair will switch to their winter schedules.

This season, the budget carrier is keeping its overall capacity broadly flat year-on-year. In fact, the airline has also cut its full-year traffic target from 216 million to 214 million passengers to reduce its exposure to unhedged jet fuel prices, which are trading near $140 per barrel. Last month, Reuters reported that the move is expected to reduce seasonal losses by between $81 million (€70 million) and $116 million (€100 million).

Even so, Ryanair will operate one of its largest winter schedules. Cirium schedule data shows that the airline has scheduled more than 395,000 flights and is offering nearly 76 million seats for the season. London Stansted Airport (STN) will be the carrier’s busiest airport by weekly departures this winter. In a typical week in November, the airline has around 1,227 departures scheduled from the airport. Dublin (DUB) ranks second with 869 weekly departures, followed by Milan Bergamo (BGY) with 641, Madrid (MAD) and Kraków (KRK) each with 421 weekly departures.

Italy Leads Ryanair’s International Schedule This Winter

Italy is one of the markets where Ryanair continues to concentrate capacity, particularly at regional airports. The airline has repeatedly identified the country as a competitive market for growth, especially at airports that have reduced access costs or removed the municipal surcharge. In fact, Italy is Ryanair’s busiest international market this winter, with 3,855 weekly departures scheduled for winter 2026–2027.

Some of you might know that the low-cost carrier closed its base in Thessaloniki and is cutting around 700,000 seats in Greece this winter. It has said some of the aircraft will be moved to markets it considers more competitive, specifically naming Albania, regional Italy and Sweden.

Italy is already seeing new route additions, including six services from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Bari, Bologna, Catania, Naples, Turin and Venice. Furthermore, the United Kingdom will be Ryanair’s second-busiest international market, with roughly 2,800 weekly departures, followed by Spain with nearly 2,650.
