The long-anticipated return of Premier League football to the Antigua Recreation Grounds came to fruition yesterday when two matches were on the cards.
Originally, the games as indicated by correspondence from the Antigua Barbuda Football Association, would have commenced on Saturday 10 October. However, there was a delay by one day which accounted for the matches being played on Sunday.
The first game, Pigotts Bullets SC versus Garden Stars FC, was scheduled for kick-off at 5:00 p.m., while Grenades FC was slated to tackle Freemans Village FC at 7:00 p.m.
Football-loving fans are now expected to turn up in numbers at what could arguably be the best-loved football venue on island.
Scores for the matches were unavailable at press time.
Tomorrow, All Saints United clash with Greenbay Hoppers at 6:00 p.m. while the second match at 8:00 p.m. pits Old Road FC against Potters Tigers.
