A member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), alongside his wife and sons, has surrendered to Nigerian troops in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The family reportedly turned themselves in on October 21 at the Forward Operating Base in Pulka, where they were received by troops of the 192 Battalion (Motorised), operating under the 26 Task Force Brigade.
Counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a statement posted on X on Friday.
According to Makama, preliminary investigations indicated that the family had fled the Wuja terrorist enclave on the Mandara Mountains before surrendering to the military.
Troops reportedly recovered a mobile phone from the family during the process.
“The suspected terrorist and his family are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action,” Makama stated.

The surrender comes amid ongoing military operations in the North-East aimed at dismantling insurgent hideouts and weakening the operational networks of terrorist groups.
Security operations in the region have also focused on encouraging insurgents to abandon armed groups and surrender to authorities.
The family remains in military custody as investigations continue into the suspected member’s alleged links to ISWAP.
