Places to Stay
Each of these Airbnbs is reason enough to pack your bags and head upstate for the weekend.

As a lifelong New Yorker, the Catskills have been my go-to escape from New York City for as long as I can remember, and I’ve yet to run out of reasons to return to the Airbnbs in the area. There are ski towns that come alive with the first snowfall, Main Streets lined with antique shops and old-school diners, and miles of mountain roads that (somehow) turn even more lovely when the leaves change color.
Just a couple of hours north of the city, this four-county region of southeastern New York has been luring urbanites into the mountains for centuries. In the 19th century, grand resorts drew vacationers seeking fresh air and scenery; later, the Catskills were known for their summer camps and folk music, with the southern region earning the nickname the Borscht Belt for its collection of hotels, stays, and camps that welcomed Jewish travelers who often faced antisemitism at other American resorts. Today, that storied past mingles with a new generation of creative small towns, farm-to-table restaurants, and design-minded hideaways that make a weekend away feel like a proper change of pace.
Finding the right Airbnb in the Catskills is almost as fun as the actual visit: Across the region, you'll find glass-walled A-frames tucked into the forest, renovated farmhouses with room for the whole family, and modern cabins where the wood-burning stoves practically beg you to cancel your dinner plans. Some are minutes from hiking trails, swimming holes, and ski slopes; others put you close to beloved towns like Woodstock, Phoenicia, and Tannersville. Whatever the season, these Catskills vacation rentals make a wonderful starting point for your next upstate adventure.
Read on for 17 of the most beloved, top-rated, and still-bookable Airbnbs in the Catskills, per a city gal who's already added them all to her wishlist.
