KUALA LUMPUR: Attention all music composers, actress Syida Melvin needs your help!
The sister of fellow actress Syatilla Melvin is on the hunt for a talented composer to craft a brand-new song.
The track is tentatively titled Laici Kang, named after the popular Malaysian Chinese dessert.
But this isn't just a regular music release. The 30-year-old actress is using the project as a direct response to a social media post by her ex-husband, who allegedly tried to "pour cold water" on her ongoing Laici Kang dessert business.
"This is my sarcastic reply to what he said about me. I'm seeking out a good composer who can help me craft the perfect rebuttal to his social media remarks about my business," Syida said in a news report yesterday.
Syida is inviting all composers to submit their best ideas, promising to choose the track that hits the right note.
"I don't want fans to forget about my business. I want to hype it up and publicise my work," she explained, adding that her former spouse had also insulted her family.
The ongoing friction follows the end of the couple's seven-year marriage.
Syida and her ex-husband, 37-year-old Mohamad Syafiq Azim, divorced on Aug 12.
They share three young children, aged between one and seven.
Syida recently claimed that Syafiq failed to pay her alimony and housing allowances during her iddah (post-divorce waiting) period.
