President William Ruto rolled into Eldoret in style on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, as Kenya marked the 63rd Mashujaa Day with a grand national celebration at Kipchoge Keino Stadium.
Footage captured by Nairobi Leo showed the Head of State's motorcade moving through the city in a convoy that was hard to miss.
A sleek black Mercedes-Benz bearing the "President's convoy" marking led the procession, with multiple motorcycle outriders flanking the vehicles as they navigated the route to the stadium.
Eldoret crowds turn out for Mashujaa Day
Residents of Eldoret, the Rift Valley town that has long been associated with Kenya's athletic greatness, came out in their numbers to witness the moment.
Crowds packed the roadsides, eager to catch a glimpse of the presidential party making its way to the iconic Kipchoge Keino Stadium, which is named after the legendary Olympic champion and one of Kenya's most celebrated heroes.
Mashujaa Day, observed annually on October 20, is one of Kenya's most significant public holidays.
The day honours the heroes and heroines who contributed to the country's struggle for independence, and the national celebrations are hosted at a different county each year, giving various regions across the country a chance to be at the centre of the festivities.
William Ruto's convoy draws attention online
The images of the convoy quickly circulated on social media, drawing widespread attention to the scale of the presidential convoy.
The four-panel photo series showing the black Mercedes-Benz with its distinctive plate number GKB 957K, surrounded by outriders and trailing vehicles, captured just how elaborate the security arrangements were for the occasion.
Kipchoge Keino Stadium, located in Eldoret, serves as a fitting venue for such a national occasion, given the town's proud sporting heritage and its deep connection to Kenya's identity on the world stage.
