A spectacular night of North Louisiana football saw Byrd win its first game of the 2026 season, Haughton move to 8-0 for the first time in forever and North DeSoto needing 78 points to put away Franklin Parish.
And then there was Green Oaks falling short of setting a school record 8-game win streak due to a domination by Homer and Loyola putting up big numbers despite the flu running rampant through the school.
Byrd 28, Evangel 24: Senior Christian Maxie rushed 20 times for 210 yards, including a pair of 46-yarders in the fourth quarter, to give the Jackets (1-7) their first win of the season. The Eagles (4-4) were without LSU commit Peyton Houston (shoulder injury), but freshman Briggs Berlin completed 16 of 26 passes for 216 yards and two TDs.
Loyola 50, Bastrop 16: Bryce Restovich completed 15 of 19 passes for 295 yards and 6 TDs as the Flyers (5-3) ran away from the Rams (4-4). Ty Walsworth and Charlie McKenzie had two TD receptions apiece.
EVANGEL ACE: Evangel’s Aiden Carter is a Swiss Army Knife for the Eagles
Haughton 42, Airline 21: Brandon Craig put up four rushing TDs and added a TD reception from Taylor Weathersby as the Bucs (8-0) are undefeated this late in the season for the first time since 2014. Haughton got an interception from Colton Bedgood and a fumble recovery by Isaac Jennings against Airline (6-2). Chase Williams tossed a pair of TD passes and ran for another for the Vikings. Dylan Johnson nailed all four PATs.
Shaw 24, Calvary 7: Hudson Price hit Braylun Huglon for the only TD the Cavaliers (7-1) could muster against Shaw (7-1).
North DeSoto 78, Franklin Parish 64: The game of the week in Louisiana saw the Griffins (8-0) remain undefeated thanks to 5 rushing TDs and 260 yards from Hayden Bell against the Patriots (5-3). Mason Smith was 25-for-32 for 320 yards and 3 TDs while Derik White rushed 24 times for 251 yards and 3 TDs. Braylon Moore caught 9 passes for 121 yards and a score.
East Ascension 48, Parkway 32: The Panthers (4-4) saw Bryston McCoy complete 26 of 45 passes for 355 yards and a score, while Damian Dacaldacal rushed 24 times for 170 yards and 3 TDs, but it wasn’t enough against EA (7-1). Gary Burney had 10 receptions for 137 yards and Tristan Sedberry had 7 for 99 yards.
Northwood 44, Bossier 14: The Falcons (4-4) stayed on a winning roll behind two TDs apiece from Dez Douglas and Caden Stewart. Bossier (3-5) saw Jaylon James toss TD passes to Jaylon Bacon and Dmarea Bates.
Cedar Creek 62, Arcadia 6: The Cougars (8-0) remained undefeated thanks to four TDs and 208 rushing yards from Payton Harris. Brett Bell scored twice against the Hornets (0-8).
