For popular blogger Douglas Anyamah, aka Anyamah Wa Anyamah, the memory of Albert Ojwang's death came rushing back through his wife's tears as he prepared to leave their home.
Daughter's Question and Young Child's Tears
In an emotional Facebook post, Anyamah recounted how an ordinary moment with his family suddenly became overwhelming when his wife mentioned the late blogger's name.
Anyamah recalled that his first daughter looked at him and asked where he was going, before seeking reassurance that he would attend her graduation.
His younger daughter, meanwhile, held onto his trousers and started crying, a familiar scene whenever her father was about to leave the house.
But it was his wife's reaction that left him deeply shaken. The ordinary family moment took an emotional turn when Anyamah noticed his wife shedding tears despite smiling.
Emotional Family Moment
Concerned, the businessman asked her what was wrong. Her response was brief but deeply unsettling.
"Albert Ojwang," she told him, adding that the two words hit him so hard.
Although Anyamah did not explain precisely what his wife was thinking when she mentioned Ojwang, the timing of her words carried particular weight.
His account offered a glimpse into the fear and uncertainty that can affect families when a loved one is taken into police custody.
Anyamah Detained in Kakamega
The emotional post came against the backdrop of Anyamah's own arrest in Nairobi before his transfer to Kakamega for processing.
Anyamah and fellow blogger Teddy Kidambi had been arrested over allegations of cyber harassment relating to a clip involving Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.
Kidambi was held at Kakamega Central Police Station, with both bloggers released on cash bail of KSh 50,000 each days later.
The developments placed the blogger's family in a difficult position, balancing concern over his arrest with the emotional weight of what had happened to Ojwang.
Why Albert Ojwang's Name Triggered Emotions
For Anyamah, the memory of his wife shedding tears while mentioning Ojwang captured how deeply the late blogger's death had affected those following the case.
Her words suggested that the circumstances surrounding the late blogger's death had left a lasting emotional mark on the family.
Ojwang's death in police custody sparked widespread public outrage and renewed conversations about police accountability in Kenya.
For many Kenyans, his death became a painful reminder of the vulnerability of people arrested by law enforcement officers and the anguish their families endure when loved ones do not return home.
