Moroccan prosecutors have ordered four people to stand trial in custody following an unauthorized gathering in Rabat on October 12 that left three police officers injured, according to a statement from the public prosecutor’s office.
The gathering involved approximately 40 people, including 14 women, the prosecutor at Rabat’s Court of First Instance said.
According to the statement, security forces intervened after participants allegedly disrupted public order and obstructed access to public services.
Officers instructed the group to disperse, but participants refused to comply and allegedly resisted police efforts to clear the area. Three officers sustained injuries of varying severity and were taken to hospital for treatment, prosecutors said.
A judicial investigation subsequently led to the arrest of seven suspects, who were placed in police custody for questioning.
Following their appearance before prosecutors, four were charged with resisting authorities, participating in an unauthorized gathering, insulting public officials in the performance of their duties and committing violence against them.
The four remain in custody pending trial. Prosecutors said all seven detainees were afforded their legal rights during questioning, including access to legal defense.
