Irengbam Chaoren Memorial Essay Competition 2026 conducted

IMPHAL, Oct 18 : As part of the 69th birth anniversary observance of late Irengbam Chaoren, the Irengbam Chaoren Memorial Trust (ICMT) organised the Irengbam Chaoren Memorial Essay Writing Competition 2026 at two venues today.
More than 300 students of Class VII to X participated in Category-A competition held at Imphal College, while over 400 students of Class XI and above took part in Category-B competition held at Ratan Kumar Memorial English School.
Speaking to the media, ICMT president Irengbam Bilasini said the competition was held in advance of the birth anniversary observance on November 2.
The topic of the competition was ‘Importance of Nationalism in Contemporary Manipur’.
She said the theme is significant in the present context of Manipur and aims to make the younger generation reflect on the current situation.
The winners will be felicitated at the birth anniversary function to be held at Manipur University Auditorium on November 2. The first prize carries Rs 20,000, second prize Rs 15,000, third prize Rs 10,000 along with consolation prizes.
