An overnight Ukrainian drone attack hstruck the “Tolyattikauchuk” petrochemical facility in Russia’s Samara region, igniting a major industrial fire and prompting the evacuation of workers at the neighboring AvtoVAZ automotive plant, open-source monitors and local residents reported early Saturday, Oct. 24.
According to the Ukrainian open-source intelligence (OSINT) project Exilenova+, strike drones hit the industrial grounds of Tolyattikauchuk in the city of Tolyatti, triggering an intense blaze as additional unmanned aerial vehicles were spotted maneuvering across different sectors of the municipality.

Local residents reported that assembly-line workers at the adjacent AvtoVAZ automobile manufacturing plant – Russia’s largest carmaker – were evacuated from their shifts amid the incoming drone alerts.
Tolyattikauchuk operates as one of Russia’s largest specialized petrochemical manufacturers, producing synthetic rubber, hydrocarbon fractions, monomers, polymers, organic and inorganic synthesis goods, and performance additives for commercial and military vehicle fuel.
Missiles hit Proton defense microelectronics plant
The industrial strike in Tolyatti follows a precision standoff missile strike conducted on Friday, Oct. 23, against the “Proton” defense manufacturing complex in the western Russian city of Oryol.
Visual evidence published by Exilenova+ showed British-supplied Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles penetrating the airspace of the industrial perimeter before detonating within the facility.

Massive Blackout Hits Russian-Occupied Crimea After Drone Attacks
Sevastopol, Simferopol, Yalta and other major cities lose power as explosions are reported and Russian-installed authorities confirm disruptions.
Open-source imagery confirmed that at least one major production and assembly workshop sustained catastrophic damage, resulting in the structural collapse of upper floors, outer masonry facades, and roof framing, rendering primary manufacturing lines fully inoperable.
Defense consultancy Defense Express reported that the struck facility shares its industrial complex with two affiliated defense-electronics enterprises: ZAO Proton-Impuls and AO Proton-Elektroteks.
All three entities function as suppliers for the Russian military-industrial base, producing specialized microelectronics, optoelectronic equipment, power semiconductors, and sub-assemblies for high-tier combat platforms.
Defense analysts identified the complex’s output as critical components integrated into Russian T-90 and T-14 Armata main battle tanks, Pantsir-S1 mobile air defense gun-missile systems, Iskander-M short-range ballistic missiles, and S-71 “Kover” cruise missiles, alongside specialized military electronics.
Military specialists noted that while destroyed production equipment and industrial workshops might eventually be replaced, the degradation of proprietary manufacturing tools and the scarcity of qualified technical specialists pose severe, prolonged hurdles for Moscow’s defense manufacturing capacity.
Cascading blackouts across Russian-occupied Crimea
The kinetic strikes inside Russia coincided with a massive systemic blackout that plunged large swathes of Russian-occupied Crimea into darkness overnight into Saturday, Oct. 24.
According to monitoring group Crimean Wind and Exilenova+, coordinated drone strikes targeted key electrical transmission nodes and distribution substations across the occupied peninsula, precipitating simultaneous blackouts in Sevastopol, Simferopol, Yalta, Feodosia, Dzhankoi, Alushta, and Yevpatoria.
Residents across the peninsula reported that Russian mobile air defense detachments engaged incoming aerial targets near Baherove in the vicinity of Kerch, while at least four detonations were logged in the Pervomaiske district.
Sevastopol’s Russian-installed occupation governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev, confirmed widespread power cuts across the naval port, attributing the outage to structural damage sustained by power installations situated elsewhere on the peninsula.
Razvozhayev stated that municipal emergency services and healthcare infrastructure were transferred onto backup diesel generators while regional energy dispatchers operated under emergency contingency protocols.
