KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) must continue to lead the state government to ensure the continuity of socioeconomic development and to keep the future of the people on the right track, said Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He urged the people of Sarawak to support GPS in the 13th state election, noting that the current administration has demonstrated a clear direction in driving inclusive progress that encompasses both urban and rural areas.
"That is why we have no other choice. Our choice is the existing government led by the Premier of Sarawak (Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg), the GPS government which has a clear vision to implement transformation and elevate the well-being of the people.
"We (GPS) have an inclusive policy, we develop Sarawak through the cooperation of all races within the state," he said while speaking at the launching of Anjung Usahawan (Entrepreneurs' Hub) and the Sematan Industrial Park in Lundu.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Bukit Sari assemblyman, gave his assurance that GPS remains committed to strengthening the state's development agenda for the benefit of the people and future generations.
Regarding the polling date for the state election, he said the matter falls entirely under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission (EC).
"But one thing is certain, we must work together and work hard, we cannot take anything for granted. It is a matter of our collective strength and our future standing.
"We want to bequeath to our children and grandchildren a Sarawak that is more prosperous and united," he said.
Last Friday, during a special press conference, Abang Johari announced the dissolution of the Sarawak state legislative assembly, effective tomorrow, to pave the way for the 13th state election.
