PETALING JAYA: Three people, including controversial activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak, have been arrested over alleged vandalism to statues at a temple along Jalan Klang Lama on Oct 6.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said the three were arrested in Beranang, Selangor, at about 11am on Oct 10, following two police reports on the incident, Kosmo reported.
He said they were remanded for three days to assist in the investigation before being released on police bail on Tuesday.
"In the incident, as many as four statues were destroyed, though the total losses are still being investigated," he was quoted as saying in a statement.
He added that the investigation papers would be referred to the state prosecution office, adding that police were working to establish the cause and motive.
The case is being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code, which covers injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any group.
