The Browser Company has revealed plans to discontinue its flagship Arc browser to make way for a new project called Dia. Arc will shut down on December 22nd, giving users two months to move on from the popular productivity browser.
Last May, The Browser Company confirmed that Arc's development would end, but a specific shutdown date had not been revealed at the time. "We’ve decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026," wrote the company in a recent Twitter post. "That’s not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community."
In the post, The Browser Company outlines that Dia was "built from the ground up" to meet today's security standards, emphasizing that's where its "engineering and security teams will focus moving forward." Switching to Dia browser should be a seamless process for Arc users given features like bookmarks, extensions, history Spaces, Folders, and even Tab Groups, can be easily transferred to the browser
The Browser company claims that Dia has "surpassed Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security." Further, it says that all the features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and that the browser's AI integrations are optional.
