A historic church in Kotri, Jamshoro district, has reopened after a Sindh government-funded renovation costing Rs30 million. Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed and Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah inaugurated the renovated building on Monday.
“The restoration has preserved the church’s original architectural features,” Naveed said.
Built in 1846, the church was opened to Jamshoro’s Christian community on December 22 that year. Naveed said the project reflected the provincial government’s commitment to religious harmony, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
The culture minister said the work had been completed ahead of Christmas to facilitate the community.
The building, also known as the Kotri Railway Line Church because of its proximity to the Kotri railway junction, is among the province’s 3,200 listed heritage sites. Restoration began in December 2025 and took around nine months.
