The Balochistan cabinet has approved double-shift teaching in government schools to accommodate more students using existing buildings and facilities.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, alongside measures aimed at expanding access to education and improving public services.
Under the approved arrangement, government schools will be able to accommodate additional students through two teaching shifts without requiring new infrastructure.
The cabinet also approved the Balochistan Non-Formal Education Act, 2025, targeting approximately 1.6 million children aged 10 to 16 who are outside the formal education system.
Briefing the media, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind said the cabinet’s decisions reflected the government’s commitment to public welfare and practical reforms.
However, the briefing did not specify when double-shift teaching would begin, which schools would introduce it, or how staffing and shift timings would be managed.
The education measures were approved as part of a broader package covering mineral development, tourism, culture, industrial incentives, and public procurement reforms.
