Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has donated 15 Toyota Hilux vehicles and 300 motorcycles to strengthen grassroots security operations across the state’s emirates and chiefdoms.
The vehicles were presented to traditional rulers on Thursday by Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who represented the governor during a meeting involving federal and state security officials.
Speaking at the event, Farauta expressed concern over the persistent security threats posed by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), emphasising the need for stronger grassroots intelligence gathering, enhanced collaboration among security agencies and greater involvement of traditional institutions in maintaining peace.
She advocated improved border surveillance, the deployment of modern security technology, including drones, and coordinated joint patrols to combat illegal migration, arms proliferation and smuggling.
In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the National Security Adviser on Governance and Subnational Affairs, Akoro Agishara, commended the Fintiri administration for its continued support for security agencies and grassroots security initiatives.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of traditional rulers, the Emir of Mubi, Alhaji Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, expressed appreciation to the state government, describing the intervention as a significant boost to community security and traditional institutions.
