Four more people died of dengue and 1,851 patients were hospitalised across Bangladesh in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Monday, taking the country’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 352 this year.
The latest figures were reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The new hospital admissions raised the cumulative number of dengue cases requiring hospitalisation to 114,251 since January 1, while 6,033 patients were receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Of the four latest fatalities, two were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, one in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area and another in Mymensingh division. The deaths indicate that the outbreak continues to affect both the capital and areas outside Dhaka.
October’s death toll reached 107 by Monday, according to published reports. The latest fatalities brought the national death toll to 352 since the beginning of the year.
Dhaka division recorded the highest number of new admissions among the divisions and city corporation areas listed in the DGHS update, with 363 patients hospitalised in the latest 24-hour period.
Khulna division reported 253 new admissions, followed by Rajshahi division with 233, Dhaka South City Corporation with 231 and Chattogram division with 220. Barishal division recorded 192 new patients, while Dhaka North City Corporation reported 148.
Rangpur division registered 93 new admissions, followed by Mymensingh division with 92 and Sylhet division with 26, the DGHS figures showed.
The figures for Dhaka division and the two city corporations are reported separately in the bulletin. They should not be added together or interpreted as a single district-level ranking without checking the geographical categories used in the official data.
Bangladesh recorded 413 dengue deaths and 102,861 cases requiring hospitalisation in 2025. In 2024, the country reported 575 deaths and 101,214 hospitalised cases, according to figures cited in published reports.
With the national death toll now at 352 and more than 114,000 hospital admissions recorded this year, the latest figures underline the continuing burden of dengue on the country’s healthcare system.
A verified district-wise breakdown would be needed to establish which districts have been worst affected in terms of total infections and fatalities.
