ByteDance's Volcano Engine has opened a Seedance premium AI drama incentive aimed at creators who produce AI comics or AI digital-human short dramas with Seedance and publish them on the Hongguo short-drama app. Live-action shoots are excluded. The first application window closes on January 31, 2027, and Volcano Engine says final rules follow its own interpretation of the program.
Eligible titles must be made entirely with Seedance, and more than half of the generated video must come from Seedance 2.5, whether through the API or Volcano's creative tools. Works are ranked each month by Hongguo AI-drama heat. Those that land in that month's AI-drama TOP50 and pass review can claim tiered rewards: up to 200,000 yuan for ranks 1–10, 100,000 yuan for ranks 11–20 and 50,000 yuan for ranks 21–50. Each payout is split evenly between cash and equivalent vouchers, chosen at signup as Volcano Ark API tokens, "Drama Creation" usage or "Comic Drama Tool" usage.
Individuals and companies may apply, but applicant, work and production details must match. Shortlisted titles face post-selection checks: creators must help verify the work and generation logs, allow Volcano Engine to inspect episodes and, if asked, submit original generation assets. Failed verification or false filings cancel the award.
The program is a distribution and compliance incentive, not a new model launch.
