GS E&C (006360) is sharing plans with its suppliers to apply physical artificial intelligence at construction sites and expanding cooperation aimed at strengthening safety and technological competitiveness.
Huh Yoon-hong, chief executive of GS E&C, said on Oct. 12 at the Grand Partners Fiesta 2026 supplier event held at the Westin Seoul Parnas in Seoul's Samseong-dong that "the growth of our partners is the growth of GS E&C." The CEO added, "We will actively adopt advanced technologies including physical AI to build safer and more competitive sites, and we will lead the future of the construction industry together with our partners."
The event drew GS E&C executives and representatives from about 80 supplier companies, who discussed the adoption of advanced technologies at construction sites, stronger safety management and measures for shared growth. The gathering has been held since 2004 and has carried its current name since 2024.
This year's event focused on applying physical AI and other advanced technologies at construction sites. An expert lecture examined the direction of physical AI development, and the company introduced technologies already deployed at GS E&C sites or slated for future use. Executives and supplier representatives then exchanged views on expanding the use of robots at construction sites.
Through its supplier support program, the Great Partnership Package, GS E&C promotes fair trade practices, financial support, competitiveness building and wider communication. The company has also strengthened on-site safety support by paying industrial safety and health management costs in advance and covering the cost of assigning dedicated safety managers to high-risk work categories. Since 2021, it has operated a fair competition bidding system that the company says helps suppliers secure adequate margins and maintain management stability.
Financial support includes 15 billion won in interest-free management support funds and a 30 billion won shared growth fund each year. A 4 billion won shared cooperation fund supports technology and research and development, productivity gains and workforce training at small and midsize suppliers.
A GS E&C official said the company plans to "create a business environment where partners can demonstrate their capabilities based on safety and technological innovation, and to strengthen a sustainable framework for shared growth."
