As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for their next game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, they have added a new wide receiver to their depth.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chiefs are signing wide receiver Justin Watson to their practice squad.
Watson is a player who the Chiefs already know very well. This is because the 30-year-old wide receiver spent three seasons with the Chiefs from 2022 to 2024. He also won two out of his three Super Bowl championships over that span with the Chiefs.

There is ultimately no harm in the Chiefs bringing back Watson to their practice squad. He will provide the Chiefs' depth with a wide receiver who has plenty of NFL experience, which is never a bad thing. If he impresses, it could very well lead to him being elevated to their active roster.
Watson played in three games last season for the Houston Texans, where he posted three receptions and 30 receiving yards. This was after he had two touchdowns, 22 receptions, and 289 receiving yards during the 2024 season with the Chiefs.
In 50 games with the Chiefs over his previous three-year stint with the team, Watson recorded seven touchdowns, 64 receptions, and 1,064 receiving yards. It will be interesting to see if he gets into game action with Kansas City soon after joining their practice squad.
