Detectives are reportedly looking inot whether a man whose body was discovered at a recycling centre may have been murdered.
The body was discovered before 1am at the facility in Clondalkin, Dublin, and remains at the scene while the Garda Technical Bureau conduct a technical examination.
It is not yet known how the unidentified man died and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified, although a post-mortem has yet to take place.
Despite this, a Garda (Irish police) source told The Irish Times the death was being treated as suspicious and investigating officers believe the man may have been murdered.
Garda said it is investigating ‘all the circumstances’ surrounding the death and has appointed a senior investigating officer to lead the inquiry.
Local Sinn Féin councillor William Carey told the Irish Times: ‘I just feel for the family. My thoughts would go out for any family of any person who’s found in those circumstances.’
An incident room has been established at Ronanstown Garda Station to deal with the investigation.
Garda has appealed to anyone who may have information to contact Ronanstown Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line or any Garda station.
