Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga Sunday announced that his upcoming film Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, will release in theatres on October 29, 2027, setting up a potential box-office clash with the second instalment of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana.
The film, which was earlier scheduled for release in December 2026, has been postponed to Diwali 2027. Vanga also unveiled a new poster featuring Prabhas as he announced the revised release date on social media.
“Dear Prabhas Anna fans. I want to introduce a NEW POSTER, featuring the man behind the shades, with the NEW RELEASE date on it. Just few minutes...#Spirit #OneBadHabit #IndiasBiggestSuperStar,” Vanga wrote on X on Saturday.
He subsequently confirmed the release date, writing, “Check this out........#Spirit #InSpiritMode @TSeries @VangaPictures #IndiasBiggestSuperStar 29TH OCTOBER DIWALI 2027. Worldwide RELEASE DATE.”
The announcement puts Spirit on a potential collision course with Ramayana Part 2, which is also scheduled to release during Diwali 2027. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the epic drama stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
The first film, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5. The makers are yet to announce a specific release date for the sequel.
Spirit marks Vanga’s first directorial venture since Animal (2023), starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. Apart from Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the film also features Vivek Oberoi, Kanchana and Aishwarya Desai in key roles.
Spirit is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga under the banners of T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.
