By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 13 year old boy from Orange Walk District has reported to police that he was struck with a belt by his stepfather.
The boy visited the Orange Walk Police Station on Friday, October 16, accompanied by his biological father.
He told police that earlier that afternoon, his stepfather became upset after seeing his younger sibling walking with some boys the teen knew from school. He said his stepfather then lashed him with a belt on his hand and lower back.
According to the report, the boy was then told to pack his belongings and leave to stay with relatives. He later made his way to his father’s home, and his father took him to the police station.
A medico legal form was issued. The boy has been placed in the care of his father, and both parents have been instructed to report to the Human Services Department on Monday, October 19, for a follow up.
