DEKALB JUNCTION — Hermon-DeKalb Girls Soccer Coach Erin Gray says she has been “praying very hard” that her Lady Green Demons could win the NAC West Division title this season.
And her team has been playing just as hard down the stretch to achieve something that her coach says that “they want very badly” and to do something “that she always wanted to do with the program.”
The Green Demons clinched at least a tie for the title on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Edwards-Knox just one day after rendering an exhaustive effort in a 4-2 victory over second place Lisbon.
The combination of Lydia Whitton and Maya Green continued to lead a dynamic offense against the Cougars. Whitton scored the first goal from Payton Dusharm and later set up the second of two goals by Green. Green’s first goal was set up by Peyton Barney and Ella Sharpe tended a six-save shutout.
Kamry Mackin made 10 saves for E-K.
