(ANSA) - LISBONA, 13 OTT - On the occasion of the Lisbon Marathon, Ambassador Claudio Miscia welcomed a delegation of Pink Ambassadors from the Umberto Veronesi Foundation—who were in the city for the race—to his residence at Palazzo Pombeiro.
The Pink Ambassadors of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation are women who, after facing and overcoming a gynecological cancer, train to participate in a competitive running race, guided by qualified coaches and supported by nutritionists, psycho-oncologists, gynecologists, and sports physicians. The project, launched in 2014 with the goal of combining sports, prevention, and support for scientific research, now includes a team of over 300 women in more than 20 Italian cities. A total of 150 women participated in the Lisbon race, taking part in the Lisbon Marathon on Saturday, October 10, and the half marathon on Sunday, October 11. The reception at the Embassy served as an institutional gathering aimed at honoring the courage, commitment, and journey of the Pink Ambassadors.
Ambassador Miscia, in welcoming the delegation, stated: “Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently celebrated Italian Sports Day Around the World, and it seems to me that the Veronesi Foundation’s project serves as an exemplary way to mark this occasion.”
