Members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) were detained by Delhi Police after allegedly scaling an entrance gate to enter Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 13, 2026. The incident followed the removal of Jantar Mantar from Delhi's designated protest sites list.
CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and party founder Abhijeet Dipke drew attention to the detentions through posts on X. The party is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Delhi Police removed Jantar Mantar from its designated demonstration sites on October 12, redirecting protests to Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground.
