KARACHI: A redesigned cabin crew uniform collection by couturier Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY) will debut on PIA’s inaugural Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight from London to Islamabad on October 31, 2026.
The airline has unveiled the collection, the latest step in the national flag carrier’s transformation under its consortium-led management.
The collection pairs Pakistani textile traditions with contemporary international tailoring. PIA said the designs prioritize passenger comfort and crew pride, using soft, breathable fabrics and structured silhouettes built for long-haul durability and ease of movement. The palette and detailing draw on Pakistan’s cultural craftsmanship while maintaining the functional polish that cabin service demands.
“Designing for our national flag carrier is about capturing our collective pride and the genuine warmth of Pakistani hospitality. We wanted uniforms that our crew feels extraordinarily confident and comfortable in, that respect our heritage, reflect modern fashion, and tell our story beautifully in every airport across the globe,” said HSY.
PIA has a long tradition of working with high-profile designers. French designer Pierre Cardin created the airline’s A-line tunic and hood in 1966. In the 1970s, Sir Hardy Amies, couturier to Queen Elizabeth II, brought refined tailoring to the cabin. Most recently, PIA said, Nomi Ansari’s design served the airline for 12 years.
HSY is among South Asia’s best-known designers, recognized for his red-carpet work, his background in Hollywood styling, and his dressing of international celebrities. He often serves as a creative ambassador for Pakistani fashion abroad.
The final design was chosen through a competitive showcase in Karachi, where 10 of the country’s leading designers presented concepts to a jury of fashion figures and industry leaders.
