Huawei has upgraded two features of its Celia voice assistant on the Mate 90 series. The first is a note-taking tool for saving content, and the second is what Huawei calls triggered AI, which offers help before the user asks for it. Both run on Huawei's on-device intelligent perception engine, which the company says can recognize on-screen content, text and images while using little power. More than 100 apps now support the two features.
Huawei pitches the upgrade as a fix for a common problem. People compare flights in one app, read a dozen travel guides in another and then cannot find anything when they need it. They also leave a shopping app to dig through photos or notes for an address or a passenger's ID details. Huawei says the goal is to move the assistant from passive question-and-answer to proactive service at the system level.
The note feature puts saving actions inside the apps people already use. While reading news on Toutiao, a user can swipe down to save the article. A post on Xiaohongshu or Zhihu can be saved with one tap through the app's own favorite button, and the item goes into Celia's notes without opening a separate notes app. Celia sorts saved items from different apps into categories automatically. When the user needs something later, they can ask Celia to pull out key details, write a summary or draft an outline from what was saved.
Triggered AI works in two ways. The first is smart autofill. When a user books tickets on Trip.com, the system detects the form, and Huawei's AI Bar suggests saved passenger details. After 3D face verification, a single tap fills them in. Huawei says this saves time while keeping personal data protected.
The second is smart suggestions based on what is on screen. While a user browses a travel post on Xiaohongshu, the phone may offer follow-up questions such as where exactly a place is or which month is best to visit. Tapping one returns a detailed answer or similar recommendations, with no typing needed. Huawei says triggered AI now covers five scenarios and more than 30 service types, in apps including Xiaohongshu, Trip.com, Zhihu, Taobao, JD.com, Douyin and Amap.
